The Ground, She Was Blessed
A few days shy of the 18-month anniversary of the fire, the ground was blessed beyond my wildest dreams by 25 of my beautifuls.
My beloveds Stephen, Mariam, Noor Jehan + Mahmad and Alia Sultana were miraculously, briefly in town from Morocco. The five of them did a most powerful Muslim blessing, Stephen translating it first for the rest of us and then the chorus of their love rang out. All of our hearts were touched.
Stephen translating the blessing for us…
Beloveds, including the baby in Noor Jehan’s tummy!
Magical synchronicity: my neighbor Don (not in the photo) brought a photo of his and Stephen’s (and my) junior year abroad in Paris, where they met on the same program — and hadn’t seen each other since!
Mariam (the only one in glooooorious heels!) was the main flower designer …with Mahmad supervising on the side!
Carol’s joy - yet another of her blessings upon the land.
My glorious Shaman friend, Carol Woodliff, brought four beautiful rose quartz hearts (particularly poignant as I lost my collection of rose quartz - including several hearts! - to the fire), one for each corner of the land. She buried each with rose petals, chocolate, sage and love. Then she did a most powerful blessing that I am certain the Native American souls who first blessed these lands could feel.
Eleven people from my beloved spiritual community came and five of us stayed afterward to do some extra blessings. One of them, precious Rick brought these cards for everyone… a heart pin with angel wings. He read the blessing on the back aloud. It. Was. Powerful.
Dearest Alexandra brought flower balloon sculptures! Are you kidding? I would never have even dreamed of such a wonderful offering! She dotted the temporary fence with them.
Flowers, Balloons + Friends, Oh My!
One beloved from that community sent a heart shaped rock from afar which will always be at the center of the flower heart, which will be an ongoing fixture (hopefully - with all the foot-and-equipment traffic there) there, ever-changing with flowers being added every time I get there.
Several people brought flowers which, again, absolutely filled in all the gaps in colors, textures of the giant bucket of flowers I brought. They were necessary, perfect additions.
Ride or Die Sara and Jill (missing our Ride or Die Elisa Beeee) with Carol in a spot of shade.
People were so wonderful to pretend it wasn’t hot and dusty and less than elegant. I pretended too. I stubbornly made a homemade lunch and brought it down from Carp, setting it up as if there were an invisible kitchen behind us.
We had five high school friends - Randy (with his beloved Jody), Annaly, Lisa, Stephen and me. Annaly, the godsend is helping so much with the tiny details in the design and construction of the house, supporting the architects and contractor — and me — in invaluable ways.
Every single person (and pup) who came made it all the more powerful and perfect.
My dear LL Cool Jan spotted yet another heart on the land!
LL Cool Jan blessed the Buddha with a flower. Yes, Buddha deserved a flower as he has been standing guard for 18 months + will continue his shift until we are rebuilt.
I got home and unpacked the car. These two gems were lurking in my now empty trunk. I had made flower hearts for everyone to take away with them… lookie lookie how magically Alexandra’s (now sleepy after a long day of hard work making happiness happen) flower balloon and a matching paper flower.
Bridget: “Dear House, do you see how very blessed we are?…”
House: “Always.”
